Resellers on Etsy

This blog is devoted to calling out yes I said calling out all the resellers on Etsy.  You know the sellers that pretend they handmade their items and sell them to the buyers.  Well on Etsy we are forbidden to "call out" any seller or shop in the forums to alert us to those nasty little fake handmade sellers.  Well guess what Etsy Admins you sure as hell can call them out here.  So here is our chance to let everyone know who they are.  Not like Etsy is going to be able to do it all.

How about this one. When confronted in a chat she came up with a lame story about things being made by an 80 year old half-blind man in her village. I guess he also supplies the people on Ebay who sell her items in bulk.

When you post a shop or reseller info you should make it a link.

there is absolutely nothing handmade about the pashminas they sell. They are all over the Alibaba and tons of wholesalers. yes, with "handmade fringes"

Runundefined said...

I think you will have to post them live in your blog ... all we can do is post them in comments.

Cool blog!

Looks like someone bought out debbychoi79's shop just to warn others that her items are commercially produced.

Awww damn.. admin was on that thread amazingly quick. WTH.

working their fingers to the bone making thousands of pieces of jewelry that sell just about as fast as they're listed ;(

If only Etsy was as quick to shut them down as they were in closing the thread!

It didn't take long for that thread to get closed. Continue to post a link to the blog on Twitter.

See resellers claiming their right to sell factory made items masquerading as supplies

This one even claims Etsy have given her permission to sell them despite their new rules specifically stating that dollhouse miniatures are not allowed as supplies now.

Obvious Reseller. Even has the PANDORA brand logo stamped on the core. Would be perfectly fine to sell if they only added the tag "Commercial" to their listing.

No user pic, no policies, no location: "RETURN POLICY:

How did you post a link? The shop only has 850+ listings. That's one busy bead maker!

We all need to keep this up and spread the word for posting the resellers. Etsy isn't going to do anything because it's money they won't be making.

Can you add this one to the list. Search any item on Ebay and you will find it sold in bulk numbers. Especially her popular 'antique' camera pendants.

Wait, I lied. The link for the "proper" reseller was never posted. so shanghaigirl is back on the radar under "WTF do you think this is, eBay"?

Anonymous said...

Ok, now this is funny. One of the Resellers listed on this blog has posted a thread in the forums about a shop that she reported 2 days ago as being a Reseller. She says she wants to Call Out in the forums.

What is that saying? If you live in a glass house don't throw STONES.

Don't forget to add Cheetah to your list. See previous link under comments.

Blue Kitty Miniatures - while you are actively calling out and participating in other forums...you are making a poor name for yourself and your shop!

Why do you have Stone Roses (stoneroseshk) listed as a reseller? They are selling supplies, which is completely allowed on etsy.

I just went to ghostlovejewelry's shop. It looks completely legit to me... sure it's all mass-produced elements "assembled" into cool-looking jewelry, but that's allowed on Esty!

What the junk? Is this a joke?

stoneroses may have her beads listed as "Supplies", but since she doesn't bother to put "commercial" after it, they automatically go into handmade....thus the call out.

Just left a note for her in her thread. We'll see if it does any good.

Glad someone's got the guts to do this. No way can any one person hand make the volume that's sold here and for these prices. This seller's website even states the goods are manufactured by her family's factory:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/LinenMe

http://etsy.com/shop/TheHomeCentric

Same story here. Cannot hand make this volume. Pretty sure this one is having clothing made in India, not by hand by seller. She identifies herself as a designer and a couple of years ago used the name 'SophieGoLightly' plus the styles and the fabrics are identical.

http://etsy.com/shop/TurkishTowel

they also sell on eBay. Not a word about being hand made by seller. Volume made/sold can't be by one person sewing by hand.

Anonymous said...

I just went and check Stonerose's shop. She has edited her tags on the few listings I checked but she still is not tagging them correctly.

some she left Handmade as a tag and added Commerical too

Others she removed Handmade but did not add Commercial which means they will still end up in the Handmade search by default.

Some she added Handcrafted.

Come on now. Let's play by the rules. It's real simple. If you didn't make it yourself (even if it is a supply) there's only one correct way to tag it and that is
SUPPLIES & COMMERCIAL.

Anonymous said...

Good news. Stone has fixed her listings. She was unaware they would end up in the Handmade section if she did not add Commercial as the 2nd tag.

Anonymous said...

still selling!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/shanghaigirl

Anonymous said...

This seller is not tagging their listings. They are not adding Commercial to their tags so they constantly flood the Handmade category with mass-produced beads

What? Cheetaah hasn't sold that fabulous Coach purse she got for Christmas last year? Bummer

Anonymous said...

Let me try that link again. Check out Cheetaah's Coach purse she received for Christmas last year that still hasn't sold on Etsy. Looks like she could have at least changed the wording of her eBay listing.

S not fair that my shop is called out for listing vintage handbags! They are all vintage, not resells. I don't know if I accidentally tagged them wrong or forgot to put the word "vintage" in 1 or 2 of the listings, but all my items are acceptable on etsy. I upcycle handbags & dayplanners by painting and/or adding charms, etc., and I sell vintage handbags and totally handmade jewelry.

I know of 2 stores on Etsy that are resellers,

http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheEarringChest

http://www.etsy.com/shop/thaisaket?ref=ss_profile

TheEarringChest and ThaiSaket are as bad as they get, They claim to be handmade items but they are not. The earrings all come from a wholesaler in bulk (I have been to the manufacturer's website) and the clothing also comes from a large wholesaler called weloveshopping.com which is in thai but the exact clothing can be seen on there. If any of you can help report these sites to Etsy and get the cheaters booted, That would be greatly appreciated. So many of us are working hard actually hand making items. It just makes me sick that these 2 stores are making a endless amount of money reselling under false pretenses. Thank you :0)

Etsy has just made a RESELLER its FEATURED SELLER! Oh dear, what an embarassing goof! If this makes you as angry as it does me, you can report her reseller Etsy store... More details here: http://www.regretsy.com/2012/04/21/the-etsy-featured-reseller-ecologica-malibu/#comments
